Mr. M F Farooqui, Chairman, Broadband India Forum
Mr. MF Farooqui is the Chairman of Broadband India Forum
Mr. Farooqui has retired as secretary, department of telecommunications (DoT) and chairman telecom commission.
Prior to the current assignment, he served as Secretary, Department of Heavy Industry, Government of India. He also played a key role in Tamil Nadu government in increasing the footprint in the industry sector as principal secretary, department of industry.
Mr. Farooqui also served as Special Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and Forests and was instrumental in shaping up critical environmental and climate change
policies in the Ministry.
During his career, he worked as Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. In mid-nineties he worked as Consul General of India in
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He has also worked as chief executive and member, secretary, Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA).
Mr. Farooqui is a 1978 Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer and holds Masters degrees in Physics and Business Administration.
Mr Anil Prakash, Director General, Broadband India Forum
Mr Anil Prakash is widely experienced in Government Relation, Regulatory and Policy framework with strong techno-commercial background in Telecom, ICT and Broadcasting domain with 33 years work experience. He has been associated with International Telecommunications Union- ITU for more than a decade and has played an influential role in contributing towards ITU’s activities in India. He helped in setting up PTC India Foundation in 1994, ITU-APT Foundation of India in 2003. He is also the co-founder & Director General of Broadband India Forum which functions as a policy forum and think-tank for the development & enhancement of the broadband ecosystem in India. He is an active member of various task groups set up by the Government and Telecom Associations and Chambers of Commerce. He has represented his organization at major international conferences for more than two decades.

Mr. Umang Das, Vice Chairman, TAIPA
Mr. Das has over 48 years of diversified experience. He holds various prestigious positions in the industry viz. Chair of the Broadband India Forum Working Group (Policy&Regulatory), CII Co-Chairman National Committee on Telecom and Broadband. He is also an active member of the Managing Committees of Assocham and FICCI advising on Telecom matters and is the Vice Chairman of the Tower and Infra Providers Association of India.( TAIPA).
Socially, he is extremely well networked and involved in several CSR related initiatives and also Director of Skill Building in Rotary International District 3011 and a Member of Telecom Sector Skill Building Council.
In the year 2008, Mr. Das joined the SREI group as Managing Director & CEO of SREI Infocomm Services Ltd., spearheading all new business initiatives of the group in the field of Total Telecom Infrastructure enablement for mobile operators.
Prior to this, from 1987 onwards he pioneered the Telecom Business in India in the Private Sector by establishing the Telecom business of Crompton Greaves and subsequently he took over as the Managing Director of Spice Telecom and thereafter as Group President of Spice Global Businesses.
Prior, he was CEO of Modi Telstra 1994 onwards and His Company made the 1st Mobile Call in India on 31stJuly 1995.
Presently, he holds the position of Special Advisor at American Tower Co (Formerly called Viom Networks) and is actively responsible for establishing Shared Telecom Infra Business End to End.
Mr.Umang Das is a veteran and amongst the pioneers of the telecom industry in India.
Mr. Das is an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering.
